EXTRA-CURRICULAR  OPPORTUNITIES

 

 
    

VIKING MARCHING BAND

 

The marching band performs at all varsity football games and competes in several local, regional and national competitions on select Saturdays throughout the fall.  Full membership in the competition show is by audition for all winds, percussion, and color guard members.  All band members may participate in reserve status if circumstances dictate.  There is a fee involved in membership with the marching band. 

 
    

FALL COLOR GUARD

 

The Fall Color Guard performs as a part of the Viking Marching Band.  This group is an intergral part of the award-winning Color Guard Program at Miamisburg High School.  It is through membership in the Fall Color Guard that guard members may continue to participate in the Winter Guard Program at Miamisburg.  More information on the guard program can be received through the Guard Director (Jim Olson) and the Guard Parents Organization.

 

Note:  Enrollment in second semester curricular Concert Band Program does NOT apply.
    

WINTER PERCUSSION (DRUMLINE)

 

The percussion ensemble will be venturing into the realm of moving drum lines this winter.  The percussion staff has an exciting show planned and this ensemble is open to any band member in the Concert Band Program (including non-percussion) with an interest in percussion instruction and a commitment to the ensemble.  There is a fee involved with membership in the Winter Percussion (Drumline).  The Drumline will perform at several local and regional championships on weekends and have a vigorous rehearsal schedule.
    

PEP  BAND

 

The Pep Band performs at all regular season varsity boy's basketball games, as well as pep rallies and other spirit events as scheduled by the director.  Membership is open to any student in the Miamisburg Concert Bands Program, and requires attendance of a few scheduled rehearsals and all home basketball games.  A complete schedule will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
    

NOTICE:

 

It is the policy of the Miamisburg Bands that no student may participate in an extra-curricular ensemble that is not enrolled second semester in a curricular Concert Ensemble (Concert Bnad, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony)

JAZZ BAND ENSEMBLES

 

The jazz bands that meet as curricular ensembles in the fall will continue as extra-curricular groups the rest of the school year.  Membership in the jazz bands is based on audition and a full-year commitment to the ensemble.  The jazz ensembles will perform in local and regional festivals and for many community activities throughout the school year.
